Program Overview
St. Boniface General Hospital (SBGH) is a tertiary care university teaching hospital which provides mental health care delivery and research. All the service units within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health program are staffed by a multidisciplinary team consisting of nursing, occupational therapy, social work, marriage and family therapy, recreation therapy, education, and psychiatry. Psychology services are available by consultation. An integral part of the Child & Adolescent program’s service delivery model is to provide treatment, workshops, and psycho educational services in the community, and to form linkages with community agencies and groups.

Adolescent and Child Collaborative Community Intervention Service (ACCCIS)
Service Overview: ACCCIS is an innovative service which brings mental health expertise, by way of providing onsite consultation and education, to the staff, clients, caregivers, and administrators working in a variety of treatment settings funded by the Child and Family Services system. A separate but central aspect of the service provides assessment and treatment services to children, adolescents and their families who are experiencing significant impairment in their lives as a result of the psychological impact of various forms of trauma. In addition to providing treatment for complex PTSD, a range of co morbid disorders are treated. ACCCIS has formed linkages with a number of community agencies and groups who provide support to their client population.

Anxiety Disorder Service for Children and Youth
Service Overview: The Anxiety Disorder Service provides consultation, assessment and treatment services to children, adolescents and families who are primarily experiencing the full range of anxiety disorders. A majority of the patient population has co- morbid disorders e.g. ADHD, Depression, PDD, as well. The predominant treatment modality used is Cognitive Behavior Therapy, which is delivered both individually and in group format. Services are provided at home, in the school, community or at the hospital site. The service has provided numerous workshops for a range of staff in many city and rural school divisions. Partnerships have been formed with community agencies and groups who support youth and their families living with anxiety disorders.

Tourette's Disorder Service
Service Overview: The Tourette Syndrome Service was one of the first of its kind when it opened in 1985. It provides consultation, assessment and treatment services to children and adolescents who are experiencing symptoms of Tourette's Disorder and its associated conditions e.g. ADHD, OCD. Public and professional education has been a central activity of the service, with hundreds of schools and professional groups having been educated by the service. A number of book chapters and various publications have also been authored. Services are provided where most appropriate whether that is in the home, school, community, or at the St. Boniface site. The service has a longstanding and close association with the local and national self help group (The Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada), and has participated on a number of levels at national and local meetings. The service is also involved in an annual golf tournament which provides funding for education and research.
