Division of Abdominal Imaging
The division of abdominal imaging is centered between the Health Sciences Centre and the St. Boniface General Hospital. The division provides state-of-the-art imaging for our referring physicians. The St. Boniface General Hospital has a very strong abdominal MRI practice co-ordinated by Dr. Iain Kirkpatrick. The Health Sciences Centre is the trauma center for the province and the division head is Dr. Howard Greenberg.
Health Sciences Centre currently has two 16 slice GE CT scanners and two 1.5 T GE MRI scanners. Both inpatient and ambulatory outpatient fluoroscopy is provided. The new Emergency complex at HSC is host to a new 64 slice scanner.
St. Boniface General Hospital currently has one 4 slice GE CT scanner and one 16 slice GE CT scanner. The department also hosts two 1.5 T Seimens MRI scanners as well as a 0.5 T open bore Seimens MRI Scanner. Both inpatient and outpatient fluoroscopy is provided.
Both sites perform image guided interventions (biopsy, drainage, etc).
Division of Neuroradiology
The division of neuroradiology is primarily centered at the Health Sciences Centre with some outpatient imaging performed at the St. Boniface General Hospital. The division provides state-of-the-art imaging. The department is staffed by qualified and fellowship trained radiologists.
Health Sciences Centre currently has two 16 slice GE CT scanners and two 1.5 T GE MRI scanners. Both inpatient and ambulatory outpatient fluoroscopy is provided. The new Emergency complex at HSC is host to a 64 slice scanner. A dedicate Bi-Plane Neurointerventional suite is present at HSC. The neuroradiologists provide both elective and emergency interventions for patients. The site also hosts the Gamma Camera for treatment of non-surgical intracranial abnormalities. The Health Sciences Centre also is the center for Neurosurgery, and Radiology is a key component to the multidisciplinary team that provides care to these patients.
St. Boniface General Hospital currently has one 4 slice GE CT scanner and one 16 slice GE CT scanner. The department also hosts two 1.5 T Seimens MRI scanners as well as a 0.5 T open bore Seimens MRI Scanner. The SBGH radiology department primarily functions as an outpatient imaging center for the ambulatory patients with respect to neuroimaging.
