Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear medicine is a branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive materials (radiopharmaceuticals) to diagnose and treat diseases. Specialied cameras track the distribution and handling of the radioactive material within the body, yielding information about a number of diseases. Nuclear medicine tests or scans can be combined with other imaging tests such as a CT scan to pinpoint areas of disease very early in the course of the patient's illness.

The tests are quite safe and with the exception of the discomfort of an injection, are relatively painless.

Nuclear Medicine can also be used in the treatment of certain diseases, such as Thyroid Cancer , by administering radiopharmaceuticals targeted to these specific tumors.
