**The applicant must supply a letter from their home country (notarized translation, if applicable) indicating they have met the training requirements for a specialist in that country. The letter must include information on the number of years of training completed and the examinations necessary to achieve the specialist status.

*It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all reference letters are received by the Department of Surgery administrative office within three weeks of the application submission date. The Department will not contact the referees for the purpose of requesting the letter.
INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL GRADUATES
All International graduates must meet Immigration Canada requirements for acceptance in a fellowship training program at the University of Manitoba and be eligible for applicable licensure in the Province of Manitoba.
Proof of fluency in English must be provided if medical training was not completed in Canada or one of the countries listed on the English language proficiency text exemption list: http://umanitoba.ca/faculties/graduate_studies/admissions/139.htm
Minimum score requirement
TOEFL iBT score not less than 95 and each category must not be less than 25.
ACCREDITATION
The Department of Surgery Fellowship Programs are not accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), which only accredits American programs.
The Programs are recognized and approved by the Faculty of Medicine, Division of Postgraduate Medical Education Executive Council.

Applications are pre-screened to meet minimum requirements and forwarded on the sponsoring fellowship program office for review and consideration for interview. Applicants will be notified by their office the results of this review.
**Notarized copies of all relevant documents must be provided.
