The Section of General Surgery has a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada accredited five-year residency training program.

Undergraduate and postgraduate training take place at the two major tertiary care hospitals in Winnipeg—Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface General Hospital—as well as at community hospitals in Winnipeg, Brandon, Dauphin, and Portage la Prairie.
