Undergraduate Education
The Section of Plastic Surgery participates extensively in the teaching of undergraduate students.
Third and fourth year medical students rotate through our services both at Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface General Hospital on a regular basis. They are integrated into the surgical team, consisting of our residents, physician assistants, nursing staff, and ancillary healthcare providers. Students have the opportunity to take call with a senior resident, attend operating room cases, see and learn to do emergency room procedures, make daily ward rounds, and receive one-on-one supervised operating room teaching of wound closure and care.
The undergraduate student will be exposed to the large volume reconstructive plastic surgery service at the Health Sciences Centre and to a diverse general plastic surgery service at the St. Boniface General Hospital.

Graduate Education (Residency)
The Section of Plastic Surgery is proud to offer a fully accredited 5-year plastic surgery residency training program. Two CaRMS matched positions are available each year. There are no official Fellowships offered at this time.
The program continues to be arranged in a mentorship model, where a resident is assigned to a specific attending for a three-month rotation, covering the entire scope of plastic surgery by the end of the residency program.
Please visit the web pages of the Plastic Surgery Residency Program for detailed information.
