Michael Cutler (B.Mus. '05) won the 2009 Ruth Watson Henderson Choral Composition Competition.  This competition is sponsored by Choirs Ontario, and is a biennial contest for new choral works, alternating between pieces for treble and mixed voice choirs.  The 2009 competition was for an SATB work for youth choir, and carried a prize of $1000.00.  Michael's entry, We are the Music Makers, was subsequently performed by the Bach Chamber Youth Choir at their May 8, 2009 concert in Toronto.

Michael also achieved a first runner up standing in the Halifax Camerata Young Composers' Competition in 2008.
