Faculty of Music students have opportunities throughout the year to participate in competitions. Awards range from cash prizes to soloist opportunities.
Some of these competitions are internal; that is, for current Music students at the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music. However, other competitions that would appeal to our students will be posted here as well. (Note: external competition information pages will open in a new window.)

Each year the Faculty awards a cash prize for the best performance in German lieder. |

Winners have the opportunity to perform a concerto (Symphony) or solo (Wind Ensemble) at a future concert. This can be any instrument or voice (for Symphony), or any wind, brass or percussion instrument (for Wind Ensemble). |

The Doris McLellan Competition for Solo Performance with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. First Prize $10,000/2nd $6,000/3rd $4,000. Open to young Manitoba musicians, vocal and instrumental, who are pursuing performance careers. Visit webpage for full details. |
