Ensemble Audition Information

Auditions for the 2013-2014 year will take place in late August and early September 2013.

  Audition dates and times will be listed within each instrumental/voice section.

Every fall, all music students (new and returning) must audition for ensemble placement for their credit ensembles. 

In addition, we welcome auditions by community members and students from other faculties who may wish to perform with one of our ensembles.

Attention:  All non-Jazz Majors and Music Education majors looking for a jazz experience:
Are you interested in playing with the UM Jazz Orchestra?  Do you need a second credit ensemble?  If so, the UM Jazz Orchestra may be the place for you - we are especially interested in students who play trombone, saxophone or trumpet. 

UMJO auditions for non-jazz majors are on Wednesday, September 4 at the Music Annex, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Please click below to sign up for an audition.
Students should be prepared to play Blue Bossa and Straight No Chaser:  students will be asked to play the melody and are encouraged to improvise one chorus.  Students will also be asked to sight read a short passage.  A rhythm section is provided.
