Music Building Our main Music building houses our administrative offices, 18 faculty studios, 17 practice studios, classrooms and chamber music rehearsal rooms, a concert hall, the Eckhardt-Gramatté Music Library, choral library, staff & student lounges, a graduate student office, student lockers, and instrument storage. |

![]() Eva Clare Hall is an acoustic chamber music hall that seats 225 audience members on 2 levels. The hall is equipped with 3 grand pianos: a 7'6" Kawai RX7 and a 7'6" Yamaha C7, and an extended-range 9' Bösendorfer. Eva Clare Hall is also home to a 1967 two-manual Casavant Frères pipe organ and an Italian harpsichord. |
Eva Clare Hall Located inside the Music Building at 65 Dafoe Road (Click here for information on public bookings of Eva Clare Hall) Controllable stage and house lighting is also available. The hall is named after Eva Clare who served as director of the U of M School of Music from 1937-1949 and was named Director Emeritus upon her retirement. |
| Eckhardt-Gramatté Music Library Located inside the Music Building at 65 Dafoe Road The Eckhardt-Gramatté Music Library, housing the largest collection of music materials in Winnipeg, supports music teaching and research at the University of Manitoba. As a unit of the University of Manitoba Libraries, the Music Library provides a vast range of print, recorded and electronic resources to students, faculty and staff of the University as well as members of the public. |

| Classrooms The classrooms in the main Music building are equipped with grand pianos and also serve as chamber music rehearsal rooms. These rooms are equipped with integrated stereo systems. These are important rehearsal and masterclass spaces for the Faculty, the Preparatory Studies Division and the Suzuki program. |
Studios Our professors' studios are situated throughout the main Music building as well as the Music 2 Annex. The collaborative nature of our Faculty is evident as these offices, some of which are very spacious and fit two grand pianos with room for chamber ensembles, are shared between our full time faculty and their Preparatory Studies Division colleagues. |

Music Annex 1 Music Annex 1 provides a valuable rehearsal space, with a large classroom suitable for bigger ensembles. There is also a jazz percussion studio and practice spaces for students. |
Music Annex 2 Music Annex 2 is home to the Division of Preparatory Studies, as well as additional professor studios, large classrooms and meeting rooms, practice rooms, guitar studio, the student computer lab, and Studio Flat. |
| Great Hall (University College) Located inside the University College (Click here to view a map in a new window - The University College is the orange building, immediately south of building #1 and east of building #2) The Great Hall hosts our University of Manitoba Symphony Orchestra concerts, and is also the rehearsal space for Wind Ensemble and Concert Band. |
Education Building (Click here to view a map in a new window - see building #41) Rooms 200 and 226 Education are extension classrooms for Music. Courses such as Music History and Music Theory happen here, as well as rehearsals for larger groups such as the Concert Choir, Women's Chorus, Bison Men's Choir, and the University Singers. |
Plans are underway for Project Domino, and the jewel of renovation is the Taché Arts Project. Once completed, the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music will move to their new facilities, which will be home to administrative offices, studios, classrooms, rehearsal spaces, and a brand-new 400 seat performance space!
