Our goals

Support members of the MCNHR in pursuing innovative research ideas and strong programs of research

Support research and knowledge translation to inform excellence in nursing education and practice

Foster partnerships and interdisciplinary collaborations between researchers across the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, other research units and other universities, and with clinicians and other stakeholders

Build capacity in research, knowledge translation and knowledge synthesis

Contribute to experiential learning and student engagement in research to grow the next generation of nursing and health researchers

Promote and enhance the visibility of research and scholarly activities conducted by members of the Centre locally, nationally, and internationally

What we offer

MCNHR provides a wide range of services and opportunities for members – whether you are a research, professional or graduate student affiliate or an undergraduate student in the UM College of Nursing.

Become a member

Members of MCNHR are interested in participating in research related activities and join MCNHR for a mutually beneficial relationship. All members are expected to contribute to and share in the research activities of the Centre.

Benefits and responsibilities of membership

Members are eligible to access a variety of research support services and research funding opportunities provided by the MCNHR.

As a member, you are expected to participate in the MCNHR Research Seminar Series, contribute to committees of the MCNHR, and participate in the annual meeting of the MCNHR. You are also expected to submit notification of any new research funding, honors, awards, distinctions, publications presentations and innovative knowledge products.

There is no salary associated with the appointment and membership is free.

Membership categories

  • Research Affiliate

    Individuals holding a full-time academic appointment in the College of Nursing or another college or faculty at the University of Manitoba or other university. Research Affiliates normally hold a doctoral degree but may also possess a master’s degree and several years of experience.

  • Professional Affiliate

    Individuals primarily employed by a health care, education or research organization (or other related organization). Individuals who hold professional research appointments as research administrators, grant facilitators or research coordinators are also eligible to apply in this category.

  • Graduate Student Affiliate

    Membership is open to all current graduate students in the College of Nursing or current graduate students in the PhD program in Applied Health Sciences, Interdisciplinary PhD, or other program whose advisor is a member of the College of Nursing.
