MN General Information and Application Process

The Master of Nursing Program at the Universityof Manitoba prepares nurses for advanced roles in nursing practice, administration, education, and research. The program builds on experiential knowledge and fosters critical inquiry, within a flexible and accessible learning environment. Our graduates are grounded in the core knowledge of the discipline, as well as substantive knowledge in a chosen domain of nursing. We strive to prepare graduates who will promote evidence-informed practice, influence the delivery of care, and advance and disseminate nursing knowledge.

There are four streams in the MN program: Administration, Clinical, Education, and Nurse Practitioner. Emphasis is placed on developing ability to "analyze, critique, and use research and theory to further nursing practice" (CASN, 2006, p. 1). The MN program is designed to prepare graduates for leadership roles in practice, education, and administration, and prepare graduates who are pursuing doctoral studies.
