Immunization and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification Requirements for All Students

A complete and up-to-date immunization status is required of all students registered in the Faculty of Nursing in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Proof of current CPR certification at the Health Care Provider Level (C) is required of all students registered in the undergraduate programs. Applicants should note there will be a cost as well as a time investment in complying with these requirements. The specific requirements for each program in the Faculty of Nursing are set out below.

Four-Year Baccalaureate Nursing Program

All successful applicants are admitted provisionally, pending compliance with the immunization and CPR requirements of the Faculty of Nursing. Failure to meet the requirements by August 1st will result in the offer of admission being revoked. It is recommended that all applicants start their immunizations no later than the time of application to the Faculty of Nursing, in order to meet the August 1st deadline if offered admission. CPR should not be obtained before April or May, as it must be valid for the entire academic year.

Returning students in the Four-Year program, including students who are certified at the Instructor level, must provide proof of CPR recertification annually by June 1st to the Student Services Assistant or designate. Certification must be valid for the entire academic year; therefore, all Nursing students must recertify in CPR in April or May of each year. Students who do not meet the June 1st deadline will not be permitted to register for courses until late in the summer.
