Nedecky Named Canada West Hockey Player of the Week

Dec. 3 - Sophomore forward JOEL NEDECKY of the Unviersity of Manitoba Bisons has been named the Canada West Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending December 2, 2001. NEDECKY, a 6'0", 180 pound center from Winnipeg, MB led all Manitoba scorers with four points as the Bisons split a two-game non-conference series against the Lakehead University Thunderwolves on Friday-Saturday, November 30th-December 1st.

In the Bisons' 5-4 OT loss on Friday night, NEDECKY scored once and added an assist, and the second-year Arts student added two more assists in Saturday's 5-2 win. NEDECKY's first assist came on Kevin Saurette's game-winning goal. At the half-way point of the season, he is fourth on the Manitoba scoring list with 4-5-9 in 14 conference games and has 6-10-16 in 22 games overall.
