Sept.
9 - In front a capacity crowd at Griffiths Stadium, the seventh-ranked
Manitoba Bisons dominated the Saskatchewan Huskies 52-7.
Third-year
Bison quarterback Shane Munson had his way with the Saskatchewan
defence completing 22 of his 32 pass attempts for 442 yards in the
victory.
Former
Huskie Jamie Boreham opened the scoring with a 43-yard field goal,
followed up with a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown, moving the
Bisons ahead to stay at 10-0. The Huskies looked to be back in the
game when they replied just 33 seconds later. Quarterback Sheldon
Ball found Chad Rempel for a 67-yard touchdown, which ended up being
their only score of the day.
The
size, strength and experience of the Bisons began to show in the
second quarter as the floodgates opened with 25 Manitoba points.
Touchdowns by Andrew Sharp, Joe Orel and Ken Vermette, and another
successful field goal by Boreham gave the Bisons a comfortable 35-7
halftime advantage.
The
Huskies struggled on offence all afternoon gaining just 176 yards
in total offence.
