Head
Coach Rick Suffield graduated from McGill University where he was
a starter as a football and a basketball player.
Rick
has been chosen Coach of the Year in the GPAC on four different
occasions 1980-81, 85-86, 90-91, and in 1994-95. Following the 1985-86
season Rick was named the C.I.S. Coach of the Year.
Rick
has coached the Bisons since 1983 and has manufactured a record
of 325 wins and 235 losses.
Coach
Suffield has also recently completed his Level 4 coaching certification.
After
a two year absence from coaching the team Coach Suffield is excited
and extremely motivated in excepting the challenge of moving this
program in a positive and successful direction. After spending the
last seven months putting together next years squad, the Bisons
look to be vastly improved in every area.

Greg Daniels
Assistant Coach
Coach
Daniels graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1978
with a Bachelor of Physical Education Degree and a Bachelor
of Education Degree. He played for the Bisons from 1973-78
where the Herd made the national final in 1975 and won the
national final in 1976. He also enjoyed success playing for
the Nicollet Inn Senior Men’s Basketball team capturing three
national titles. Coach Daniels, who is currently Principal
of Transcona Collegiate, has had several successful years
coaching basketball at various levels including Youth Basketball,
Junior High, High School and now at University. |

Darren Johnson
Assistant Coach
Coach
Darren Johnson graduated from the University of Manitoba and
Minnesota State University-Moorhead. He is currently the Director
of Athletics and varsity boys' basketball coach at St. John's-Ravenscourt
School and the basketball convenor for Zone 2 of the MHSAA.
Johnson has been involved in basketball as a player, coach,
official, or convenor for close to twenty years, primarily
in northwestern Ontario and northern Minnesota. He is a Level
II NCCP Basketball coach. |

Alex Villafranca
Strength Coach
Alex
has completed his Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science
and is a Certified Fitness Consultant with the Canadian
Society for Exercise Physiology. Alex has also completed
specialty training in Resistance Training through the Manitoba
Fitness Counsel. He is currently working towards his MSc.
(medical rehabilitation) degree. Alex currently works with
the Bison men's basketball team and assists with the Bison
Football team. He has spent time as an Olympic Weight Lifting
coach, for which his is certified at NCCP Level III. He
has also coached national and world record holders in the
sport of powerlifting, and has competed at a national level
himself.
