Pam
Danis has been the head coach of the University of Manitoba
Bisons women’s basketball team since 2001-02.
Danis
is no stranger to winning traditions, with her sterling playing
background as the starting point guard for the University of Winnipeg
from 1992-95. She was an instrumental player in the team’s three
back-to-back-to-back national championships, and an astounding 88
game winning streak, which tied a North American record for the
most consecutive wins.
More
recently, Coach Danis is proud of a partnership with the Skownan
First Nation known as “Running with the Bisons” which encourages
friendship and understanding and the teachings of the bison.
Previous
to the Bisons, she had coached with St. John’s Ravenscourt for six
seasons. In addition, Danis coached the Manitoba Juvenile Provincial
team for two seasons, and also spent one season as an assistant
coach of the University of Manitoba Bisons.

Cheryl
is a former M.V.P. of Bison Women's Basketball (1999-2000)
who scored over 1000 points in her five year career. She was
also amoung the perennial conference leaders in free throw
percentage and steals. She has coached junior varsity girls
at River East Collegiate, winning three conference titles,
1 bronze medal at provincials and overall record of 77 wins,
11 losses. In 1999, she was involved in Athletes in Action
European tour team that toured Switzerland & Slovakia.

How
has been a member of the women’s basketball staff since 2001.
No stranger to the Winnipeg fans, she worked with the University
of Winnipeg Women’s Basketball team from 1992 – 1996, and participated
in the 88 game winning streak. How is now both a teacher and
the varsity girl’s basketball coach at Westgate Mennonite Collegiate.
She is a Level 3 NCCP Basketball coach, and has coached in both
the midget and juvenile provincial team programs. She brings
both intensity and insight to the team, and has become a key
member of the coaching staff. |
| Hill
has been with the Bison since 2006-07. He is retired from
the Brandon School Division after 34 years of service. He
won 11 provincial championships with the Vincent Massey Vikings
and the Neelin Spartans. Hill brings a wealth of knowledge
and insight to the program with an emphasis on fundamentals. |

Taylor

Jana
Taylor is in her first year as an assistant coach with the
women’s basketball team. She brings a keen mind to the team
along with her extensive experience in the sport. Taylor was
a five year athlete with the U of M women’s basketball and
was a key member of two National Championships. Since 1999,
Taylor has coached the John Taylor Varsity Girls Basketball
team and was co-coach of their provincial championship team
in 2005. Taylor, a graduate of the John Taylor, was also a
member of the 1994 provincial championship team as a player.
Growth, sportsmanship and a commitment to excellence are all
principles that Taylor will strive to foster with the Bison
women’s basketball team. She is currently employed as legal
counsel for the provincial government.
