MacGillivray
brings an extensive resume to the Bison hockey program. The Winnipeg
native has been the General Manager and Head Coach of the Manitoba
Junior Hockey League (MJHL) Portage Terriers over the last six seasons
and head coach for the previous eight seasons (1998-2006).
During his eight-year tenure as Terriers head coach, MacGillivray
accumulated a record of 293 wins, 166 losses and 48 ties for a winning
percentage of .638. He led the Terriers to consecutive Sherwood
Division championships in the 2003-04 and 2004-05 season. MacGillivray
was at the helm when the Terriers captured the MJHL Championship
and ANAVET Cup (Manitoba-Saskatchewan) in 2005.
Prior
to the Terriers, MacGillivray head coached for four other teams.
He was an assistant coach and then head coach for the Western Hockey
League (WHL) Prince Albert Raiders from 1996-1998, head coach of
the MJHL's Neepawa Natives from 1993-96, general manager and head
coach of MJHL's Southeast Blades from 1992-93 and started as head
coach with the MJHL's St. James Canadians from 1989-1991.
MacGillivray
earned recognition as MJHL Coach of the Year in 2004-05 and 1994-95
season and was a five-time finalist for MJHL Coach of the Year (2002-03,
2000-01, 1998-99, 1993-94, 1992-93). His MJHL career regular season
record is 440 wins, 307 losses and 68 ties for a winning percentage
of .589. MacGillivray experience includes being a coach for the
2000 Viking Cup and an area scout for the WHL's Tri-City Americans
from 1991-96. He studied in the Faculty of Arts (Economic Major)
at the University of Manitoba.

Assistant
Coach Billy Keane is a N.C.C.P. Coach (Advanced
2) and is no stranger to the Bison hockey program. He played
for the Herd from 1986-89 and joined the team as an Assistant
Coach, a position he held until 1999. Keane then moved on
to be a Head Coach in the MJHL from 2000-2004. Keane is presently
the Manager of Programming, Dakota Development Camps and the
Head Coach, On Ice Training, Optimal Training Academy. Keane
has also been a guest coach for many teams including the Manitoba
Moose.

Assistant
Coach Rob Friesen played with the Bison hockey
program from 1989-1992. During that span, the Winnipeg native
amassed a total of 107 points in 106 games, finishing in the
top 10 in Canada West in scoring in both the 1990-91 and 1991-92
seasons. Following his career at Manitoba, Friesen spent three
seasons overseas in Great Britain, one in Germany and parts
of four seasons in the ECHL and the former WPHL. In the Western
Professional Hockey League, he wore many different hats with
the Monroe Moccasins and the Abilene Aviators including player,
player assistant coach as well as assistant general manager. |

Assistant
Coach Sonny Mignacca is a veteran hockey
person with playing and coaching experience. He spent four
years with the WHL’s Medicine Hat Tigers and was drafted 213th
overall by the Vancouver Canucks in 1992. After turning professional
he split his time between the A.H.L and the E.C.H.L from 1994-1997
spending parts of two seasons with the Syracuse Crunch of
the American Hockey League during that span. In 1997, Mignacca
moved overseas, playing two years in England before returning
to North America to finish his career with the Tupelo T-Rex
of the WPHL. Mignacca started the International Goaltender's
School after his playing career. |

Strength
Coach Kyle Turcotte earned both a Bachelors
of Physical Education degree and a Masters of Science in Biomechanics
at the University of Manitoba. Kyle also holds the following
certifications: Professional Fitness and Lifestyle Consultant
with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology, Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength
and Conditioning Association; NCCP technical Level II Weightlifting
and Certified Athletic Therapist with the Canadian Athletic
Therapy Association. |
