26 - Manitoba went two wins and one tie in the University of Sasaktchewan
tournament without allowing a single goal in three pre-season games.
The
Bison women's soccer now returns to Manitoba to prepare for their
season opener at home versus the Victoria Vikes on Saturday, September
8 at noon at University Stadium.
To
open the tournament, the University of Manitoba Bison Women's soccer
team defeated the University of Saskatchewan Huskies 2-0 at Griffith
Field in Saskatoon on Friday, Aug. 24 evening. The Bison goals were
scored by two rookies, Kendra Baker and Kassandra Mueller. Goaltender
Ashley Forbes had the shutout.
The
Manitoba Bisons had a 2-0 win on Saturday over the University of
Regina Women's Soccer team. The Bisons two goals were scored by
Kendra Baker (her second in two games) and Lianna Bestvater. Goaltender
Louisa Fontaine had the shutout.
On
Sunday, August 26 the team tied the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns
0-0 at Griffith Field in Saskatoon. Goaltender Chera Kirkpatrick
had the shutout.
