8 - The U of M mens volleyball team bests UBC 3 sets to 0 in the
opening series of the weekend (25-18, 25-19, 25-16).
Manitoba came out in set one eager and ready to play, but UBC matched
them point for point to the technical timeout. Manitoba began to
pull away and by the second technical, led 16-12. The two teams
played a hard fought set, but it was the Bisons who eventually came
out on top winning the set 25-18.
Set
two saw the same back and forth volleyball, with the Bisons holding
a slight lead at 8-6. UBC tied the game at 10, but it was all Bisons
after that. The Bisons came up with some huge attacks and timely
blocks to progress to a 25-19 set win.
Set
three saw the Bisons jump to an early 8-4 lead and never look back.
There were some excellent rallies in the mid point of the set, with
both teams coming up with some timely blocks and well earned attack
points. However, the Bisons proved too much for UBC and pulled ahead
24-16. The Herd then finished the set off with a service ace, to
win the match 25-16.
