9 - The UBC mens volleyball team bests U of M 3-1 (25-17, 22-25,
25-18, 25-23) in the second series of the weekend.
UBC
came out in set one eager and ready to play, but Manitoba matched
them point for point to the technical timeout. UBC began to pull
away and by the second technical, led 16-12. The two teams played
a hard fought set, but it was the Thunderbirds who eventually came
out on top winning the set 25-17.
Set
two saw the same back and forth volleyball, with the Bisons holding
a slight lead at 8-6. UBC tied the game at 10. The Bisons came up
with some huge attacks and timely blocks to progress to a 25-22
set win.
Set
three saw the Thunderbirds in the lead for much of the set and they
gained control of the match with a convincing 25-18 victory setting
them up for set 4.
Set
four saw the Bisons with a slight lead throughout the set until
the end. The Thunderbirds stepped up their play and gained the lead
resulting in a hard fought 25-23 victory.
