15 - The #8 Calgary Dinos bounced back from Friday's loss to beat
the Manitoba Bison 3-2 (25-18, 25-23, 12-25, 17-25, 15-13).
Set 1 saw the Dinos take the Bisons in a 25-18 match.
Set
2 saw the Bisons take the early lead to 16-12. The Bisons then took
the score to 20-16 where Calgary called a timeout to regroup. The
Dinos then tied the match and 20. The teams battled to ties at 21,
22 and 23 points, where Calgary gained the upper hand, eventually
coming out on top 25-23.
Set
3 was more favorable for the Bisons who jumped to a quick lead and
never looked back. The Bisons had the Dinos down 20-8 at one point
in the match. The Dinos managed to scrape together a few more points,
but the Bisons rumbled to an easy 25-12 set win.
Set
4 saw the Bisons carry the momentum to another set win of 25-17.
The match was filled with exciting attacks and several amazing stuff
blocks on the Dinos.
Set
5 was the most exciting of the night. As the crowd roared for every
point the Bisons scored and jeered for every point the Dinos scored,
no team was able to gain the upper hand by more than two points.
The Bisons rallied and pulled the score to to 13-12 for the Dinos,
where Calgary called a time out to settle their nerves. The Bisons
returned to the court to give the screaming crowd one more point
and hope for a win...but it was the Dinos who scored two quick points
to finish the Bisons evening and their weekend at 15-13.
