22 - The Bison men's volleyball team lost 3 sets to 1 against the
U of S Huskies Saturday evening at the Investors Group Athletic
Centre.
As in the previous evenings contest, all four sets of tonight's
match were close, hard fought battles.
Set
1 started the evening with the Bisons and Huskies trading tie scores
at 9, 10, 11, and 12. The Huskies picked up some ground in the latter
half of the set when the pushed the score to 21-16. The Bisons rallied
and pushed their side of the board up to 20 points, but the Huskies
took the first set 25-20.
Set
2 saw the teams battle at the net with huge flying attacks and timely
stuff blocks, where neither team allowed the other any ground. The
teams fought to a 19 all tie, then the Bisons snagged a point to
go 20-19, and forced the Huskies to call a time out. After the time
out, it was the Huskies who gained the upper hand and eventually
took set two 25-23.
Set
3 saw the Bisons and the Huskies once again trade the lead back
and forth until point 21, where the Bisons gained a slight advantage
and snuck the score up to 23-21. The Huskies would not relent however,
and tied the score at 23 where the Bisons called a time out to regroup.
It obviously worked, as the Bisons came back out to take the set
26-24.
Set
4 saw the Huskies jump to a 14-6 lead over the Herd. To their credit,
the Bisons never gave up and rumbled to a 22-20 score, where the
worried Huskies called a time out. After the break, the Huskies
came back on the court focused on the task at hand and took 4 points
away from the Herd to make the score 24-20. After an excellent rally,
it was a little backhand at the net by the Huskies that finished
the set 25-20.
