2 - The Manitoba Bisons walked all over the Winnipeg Wesmen on their
way to a 3-0 victory Friday night at the Duckworth Centre.
In
the first set the Bison's built leads of 8-5 and 16-10 at the technical
timeouts on their way to a 25-16 first set victory.
In
set number two the Wesmen played with more fire and it showed as
they had an 8-7 lead at the first timeout, but the Bisons took the
lead at 16-15 at the second technical. Despite a great effort the
Bisons took the second set 25-22.
In
set number three the Bisons built up a 16-11 lead at the second
technical and never looked back as they won the third and deciding
set 25-19. Ben Schellenberg was a bright spot for the Wesmen finishing
with 17 kills and six defensive digs.
The
Bisons were led by Toon
van Lankvelt's 12 kills. Winnipeg and Manitoba now have identical
5-4 records.
The
two teams will meet Saturday night at the Duckworth Centre. Match
time is 6:00 p.m.
