October
19 - The University of Bisons men’s volleyball team opened their
second exhibition match of a three game series strong but were eventually
defeated by Dalhousie Tigers by a score of 3-1 (17-25, 25-20, 25-19,
25-18) tonight at the Investors Group Athletic Centre.
The young Bison squad started off the match with a bang, taking
the opening set 25-17, and were competitive in the second set, which
they lost 25-20, but were eventually overcome in the next two sets,
losing by scores of 25-19 and 25-18.
“That
was probably our best start to a match thus far. We followed our
game plan and were able to have a solid middle attack and serve
receive. It was good to see our kids composed as a team and we look
forward to building on these positive tomorrow” said Bisons coach
Phil Hudson.
The
Bisons are a young squad this year, with five newcomers to the CIS,
but will surely come together soon with the help of the veteran
leaders on the team.
Regardless,
the team displayed plenty of grit and skill and will look forward
to challenging Dalhousie again tomorrow night
“Our
energy level was really going there, especially in the first two
sets, and with our middle game going strong, we need to focus a
little more on the serving side, and tipping to the more open spots
and we should be fine” said Zach Diboll, a first-year setter out
of Capilano College.
The
Bisons will take many positives into tomorrow’s rematch at 7:00
p.m., when they play the Dalhousie Tigers at the Investors Group
Athletic Centre. |
