Two prominent geoscientists will be invited to be the Jack Gallagher Visiting Scientists during the Centenary year in order to recognize the important role of students in the Department and the links with industry.  Each individual will visit the Department for 2-3 days during which they will give several talks and meet with students, faculty and staff.  It is expected that one speaker will come in the Winter Term 2009-2010 and one in the following Fall Term 2010-2011. The endowment fund for this program was established by Jack Gallagher in 1990 and enables the Department to bring in scientists with outstanding careers in the petroleum, mining and environmental industries to meet with our students.
