Return to Alkaline Rocks

Two examples of albitite from Mt. Selsurt (Lovozero, Kola). In both cases, the rock is composed of albite (light-colored material), aegirine and sodic amphibole. The coarser-grained albitite at right probably stewed in a Na-rich "brine" much longer than the piece at left.
