Cameca SX-100 Electron Microprobe
Microbeam Labs, Geological Sciences
This instrument provides quantitative chemical analysis of minerals for a wide range of elements. The instrument has 4 wavelength-dispersive spectrometers, an EDS system, and BSE (back-scattered electron) and secondary-electron detectors. The instrument can be programmed to analyze up to 500 points automatically. Qualitative EDS analysis is also available. Photographic mapping of element distribution can be done by collecting BSE and secondary-electron images.
