Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Wireless Configuration
Configuration Instructions

Important

Before configuring the secure wireless for Leopard we recommend ensuring that your Leopard is fully up to date (10.5.4 or higher).
 
Leopard can be updated on the internet by running Software Update in the System Preferences under the Apple menu.

  1. Click on the Network icon. Click Open Network Preferences

     
  2. In the left pane, be sure AirPort is selected.

     
  3. Click the Advanced... button.

  4. Click the 802.1X tab.
  5. In the Domain: dropdown menu, select User.
  6. In the left pane below Configurations, click the plus (+) button and type in U of M Secure
  7. In the User Name: field, enter your UMnetID.
  8. In the Password: field, enter your UMnetID password.
  9. In the Wireless Network: field, enter uofm-secure

     
  10. In the Authentication: field, ensure only TTLS is checked, then highlight the selection.
  11. Click the Configure... button.
  12. In the TTLS Inner Authentication dropdown box, select PAP.
  13. In the Outer Identity: field enter anonymous, then click the OK button.

     
  14. Click the OK button to dismiss the 802.1X settings window.
  15. Click the Apply button to activate your 802.1X settings you've configured.
    Clicking Apply will update your 802.1x profile settings. You must now assign the uofm-secure network to use this profile.
  16. Click on the Advanced button once more.

     
  17. On the AirPort tab. Click on the + add button to add uofm-secure

     
  18. Type uofm-secure into the Network Name field
  19. For security type, choose 802.1X WEP
  20. In the 802.1X box, choose the 802.1X profile previously created. Your username and password should be filled in automatically.

     
  21. Click Add
  22. Close the Network window
  23. You should now be able to connect to U of M Secure:

     
  24. To connect, select uofm-secure from the AirPort dropdown menu. (Do not use the dropdown menu in the Network pane in System If the Verify Certificate dialog box appears, click the Accept or Continue button.
  25. Within a few seconds you should have access to the Internet
