INTRODUCTION: A suite of data and software, from DMTI Spatial Inc., is now available to current faculty, students and staff of the University of Manitoba, for non-commercial purposes. Please see the access, products, and license information which follows, to determine if this resource can be of use to you.

ACCESS: These files are available to current faculty, students and staff of the University of Manitoba, for non-commercial purposes. To access these products, please contact Gary Strike at 474-7086 or by email at gary_strike@umanitoba.ca.

2010 DMTI Products include:

  • CanMap Atlas, CanMap Rail, Clutter, DEM, Census boundaries.

  • CanMap Route Logistics v1.2: road directions, type, names and number, exit ramp numbers, estimate travel time in minutes.

  • CanMap Water v1.2: represents detailed coverage of water features for Manitoba and was engineered from a combination of National Topographic Data Base (NTDB) 1:50,000 and 1:250,000 scale hydrographic mapping data.

  • CanMap Parks v1.2: represents over 1,800 national, provincial and territorial parks across Canada.

  • Postal Geography file: six digit file, enhanced postal code file and forward sortation area data and boundaries.

  • GeoPinpoint v4.2 Geocoding Software: attach geographic coordinates to records in a database, after the data is "geocoded", it can be transferred into various GIS software formats.

  • EPOI v2.2: The Enhanced Points of Interest (EPOI) file is a national database of nearly 1 million Canadian business and recreational points of interest that have been accurately geocoded and precisely placed. This location enriched point of interest database allows users to see and analyse selected points of interest data in a given geographic area, enabling applications such as planning, retail site analysis, intelligent routing, sales territory analysis and tourism.

  • CanMap Streetfiles V5.0: major roads and highways as well as street files/names for communities of 1000+, street addresses for communities of 2,000+, and major transit sytems, etc.

DMTI - DATA USE LICENSE

  • DMTI is the owner, or the licensee, of the intellectual property (including copyright) in these data products, and this Agreement is only a license to acquire and use these data products. No title or other rights are conveyed by this Agreement.
  • These data products are provided “as is”, and the owner makes no representations or warranties, either expressed or implied, as to the appropriatemess and fitness for a particular purpose. DMTI encourages consortium members to report data problems to them using its web address: http://www.dmtispatial.com/error_reporting.html
  • DMTI further encourages consortium members wishing to recommend improvements to these files to communicate their ideas via the following web address: http://www.dmtispatial.com/product_wish_list.html
  • These data products are provided for the exclusive purposes of teaching, academic research and publishing, and/or planning of educational services within this educational institution, and may not be used for any other purposes without the explicit written approval, in advance, or DMTI.
  • These data products are to be made available only to educators, students and staff members of this educational insitutuion (referred to as “authorized users”) and only while they have such status with this educational institution.
  • Authorized users are prohibited from using these data products and software in the pursuit of any contractual or income generating ventures either privately, or under the auspicies of the educational institution.
  • Copies of these data and software products may be retained by authorized uses for the period necessary to conduct the research or teaching, including their use as evidence of research methodologies and results and subsequent research and analysis during the term of this agreement.
  • The distribution of any data obtained under this agreement outside this educational institution through sale, donation, transfer or exchange of any portion of the data in any way is strictly prohibited, with the exception of distribution to bona fide participants in this consortium. The University consortium contact must agree to such distribution.
  • The publishing of data and analysis resulting from research using anyof the data products is permitted in research communications such as scholarly papers, journals, and the like. The data to be included in such communications can only include raster images and must not include vector data. The authors of these communications are required to cite DMTI Spatial Inc. As the source of the data, and to indicate that the results or views expressed are those of the author/authorized user.
