The Electronic Library of construction occupational safety and health appears to be a joint venture between the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, both US government agencies. The site contains full-text documents from organisations and government agencies relating to biological, chemical, musculoskeletal, physical, safety and other hazards which may be encountered during construction work. The National Science, Mathematics, Engineering, and Technology Education Digital Library (NSDL) is now under construction with funding from the National Science Foundation. By following this tutorial you will learn how to conduct an invention search, and by the time you are finished, you should be able to conduct a basic search to determine if your invention has already been granted a patent in the U.S. This tutorial will take you step-by-step through a very simple invention search. WTAs are intended to honor people whose work seems to have great long-term impact. This year's winners include Linus Torvalds, who produced the Linux kernel and released it as open-source material, and Robert Metcalfe, who invented Ethernet and founded 3Com. Shawn Fanning, founder of Napster, won in two categories: entertainment and entrepreneurship (apparently, being ground to a pulp by the legal system doesn't disqualify one). Funnily enough, the WTAs are sponsored in part by Enron, which has suffered some legal misfortunes of its own. The list of winners is supplemented with occasional brief biographical sketches.
