  • University of Manitoba site  Arctic Blue Books. Index and abstracts to the 19th Century British Parliamentary Papers concerned with the Canadian Arctic. Copies of the Blue Books are available in the Neil John McLean Health Sciences Library and the Archives and Government Documents collections of the Dafoe Library, University of Manitoba.
  • CADUCEUS-L (Listserv) is an open, moderated discussion list that provides a forum for exchanging information on any aspect of the history of the health sciences. It includes announcements, inquiries, and discussion on access to historical resources. You can subscribe to CADUCEUS-L at Mailserv@Beach.UTMB.Edu
  • Canadian site  Canadian Health Obituaries database - Osler Library of McGill

  • Echo: Exploring and Collecting History Online - History of Medicine & Behavior Sciences Links
  • HISTLINE - is an index to journal articles dealing with the history of medicine and related fields. It includes literature about the history of health-related professions, sciences, specialties, individuals, institutions, drugs, and diseases in all parts of the world and all historic periods. HISTLINE is now available as a subset of PubMed. Complete your search in PubMed and then click on the "Limits" button. The new subject subset, "History of Medicine" is now available on the Subset pull-down menu on the PubMed "Limits" screen.

  • Canadian site Memorable Canadians provides quick and direct access to biographical information on important Canadians who have contributed to the Canadian cultural landscape.
  • Wheeler Library Journals Index (The British Society for the History of Science (BSHS)) - searchable index is based on the journal article listings posted at regular intervals to the mailing list mersenne since 1993. The listings aim to provide thorough coverage of articles in journals in the history, philosophy and social studies of science, technology and medicine, and increasingly include work in a variety of languages.

Banting, Sir Fredrick

  • Banting and the Discovery of Insulin - includes information on Dr. F.G. Banting, Mr. C.H. Best, Mr. J.B. Collip and Prof. J.J.R. MacLeod, all of whom contributed to the discovery of insulin in 1921 at the University of Toronto. Also includes Nobel speeches and lectures from the same.
