The seventeen science activities in this book cover a wide range of subjects. Included are standard areas of study such as electricity, sound, and light. Of more current interest are the explorations of solar energy, plant ecology, and genetics.

Each experiment is followed by an article that discusses the subject further and explains its significance in today's world. A bibliography and index is appended.

The directions for the experiments are clear and precise. Most of the equipment and material needed is readily available in the home. The black-and-white diagrams that accompany both the experiments and the explanatory articles are distinct and informative.

Consultants for the book include scientists from the Kortright Centre for Conservation, the Ontario Science Centre, and the University of Toronto, as well as the president of Empo Machinery Ltd., the manager of communication of Abitibi-Price Inc., and two medical doctors.

Young scientists will find the book stimulating and instructive. It is highly recommended for public and school libraries as well as for classroom projects.
