The authors of this work form a prominent consulting team in marriage and family counselling. Their credentials merit the reader's close attention to this combined effort to present some of the essential elements of courtship in Canada today. The brevity of the pages does not reflect the quality of the work. On the contrary, the authors present a stimulating summary of their research and personal experience in the area of marriage preparation. One can read through the book's pages rapidly without being bothered with lengthy examples and professional jargon. Between a brief preface and a thumb-nail bibliography is sandwiched four fascinating and practical chapters dealing with such issues as: courtship, marriage, everyday issues in married life, and partner selection. This latter chapter provides an interesting check-list of qualities a person might look for in selecting a mate. Exploring some of the sexual myths is handled in a very practical, and at times humorous manner. The section on everyday issues discusses some of the nitty-gritty problems that get in every couple's way.

Selected portions of this work could be used effectively in a high school moral education program. However, the work would be most valuable in courses on psychology, counselling, marriage preparation, and sexology.
