Using questions chosen from the hundreds of letters from viewers who watch "Wonderstruck" on TV, the authors have compiled a book of twenty-six easy experiments for the young scientist to produce at home.

The authors of this entertaining and informative science book are experienced in the writing of children's literature. McDonald is host of CBC television's popular science show for children, "Wonderstruck." Hei also a regular guest on CBC's "The Journal" and "Midday" and a contributing editor and feature writer for OWL magazine. Writer and editor Eric Grace is the former science editor for the Ontario Science Centre. Each experiment is introduced by a question followed by a brief but very satisfying explanation. Then comes "Kitchen Demo." which outlines the experiment: materials, procedures and explanation. The questions cover a wide range of topics, with most on the physical sciences. There is no order to the questions, either by topic or by difficulty. Both the questions and the treatment are aimed at catching and holding a child's interest with an attractive format of good print and large cartoons on every page. There is an excellent table of contents and a complete index.

Highly recommended as a browsing title for upper elementary children.
