This microwave cookbook for children contains just over thirty recipes as well as practical advice on using this type of oven. The recipes range from porridge to various vegetable, chicken, hamburger, hot dog and dessert dishes, and include both imperial and metric measures.

Colourful illustrations by Michele Devlin add amusing touches to the glossy easy-to-clean pages. On two pages, however, some recipe information is covered by part of the drawing.

The book covers are an unusual shape. The lower parts are rectangular connected with a spiral binding and allow the book to open flat. The upper portions of the covers are irregularly shaped following the design of the front-cover illustration. There is a small hole at the top of the covers through which a string can be threaded to hang up the cookbook.

Librarians should be aware that important information is found on the inside of both covers. This format would make it difficult to locale a book pocket.

Adult assistance would be needed to adjust cooking times for ovens with less than 650 to 700 watts and to oversee that care is taken in following recipes and handling hot foods. This book would more likely be given to a child as a present rather than added to a school library collection.
