Many of us have memories of the security found in mama's bed after a nightmare or during a thunderstorm.

The team that produced  Sarah Saw a Blue Macaw has ventured into the comfort zone with a story that describes the security a little girl finds in her mama's bed when she's frightened or sick, and the fun to be had there during the day while bouncing or folding clean laundry. Mama's bed has all sorts of uses, including cutting out Hallowe'en costumes--something we hope young readers will request permission for before wielding their scissors around the eiderdown.

Each two-page drawing has one or two lines of simple text superimposed, easily read by a second year reader. As in  Simon's Surprise, Daigneault has provided meticulous drawings, but the large presentaion and colours used sometimes undermine the quiet tone of the story.

This would be an optional purchase for a thorough Primary collection.
