. Volume XI Number 16 . . . . April 15, 2005
This is a very enjoyable collection of summer songs. The songs “Mister Sun” and “Peanut Butter” will be familiar to fans of Raffi and Sharon, Lois and Bram. Other selections, including “It Ain’t Gonna Rain No More” and “There Was A Little Rooster,” are traditional favourites. A real treat are the songs “Muskoka Madness” and “Blackfly Boogie,” both composed by Mary Lambert and both unique to Canadian summers.
Mary’s voice blends well with the children who accompany her on many of the selections. The tunes are quick, upbeat and appealing. This is one of those albums that would be great to play in the car on a long drive or on a rainy day when the kids are bored. Words accompany the album, but unfortunately the actions that accompany songs like “Peanut Butter” and “The Little Green Frog” aren’t included. Highly Recommended. Calgary, AB’s Barb Taylor is an Early Childhood teacher, freelance writer and fan of children’s music.
