This typical question and answer routine between parent and child opens up this tale of extraordinary proportions! The story of Gus and his adventurous science experiment is only one of the endearing qualities of this book. Something goes awry in Gus's classroom when a science experiment comes to life and the class winds up being washed away. They have to paddle to the gym, eventually escaping to the school yard. Fortunately, the school is staffed with a handy custodian who plunges an outside drain, and all the water disappears. The story ends in a circular fashion when Gus's brother walks in the door and he is asked the same question by his mom. Readers are left with a brilliant illustration to let their minds solve the rest of the story.

Joe Weissmann adds incredible depth to the story with his exciting and amusing illustrations. The facial expressions and body language represented by the other class members are excellent and allow for readers to insert their own thoughts into the story with ease.

Mom, The School Flooded is a short book, illustrated extremely well, and an excellent story to add to your collection.

Highly Recommended.
