A look at the months of the year through the eyes of a child. Two pages are dedicated to each month and have a short description of the sights, smells and feelings you experience during that month. Coloured illustrations complement the text.

February All day long I guard my fort. Boots, hat, coat - my suit of armor is frozen stiff! I love the month of February and my hot chocolate, too.

This story is a year-long journey of a little boy and his cat, Clementine. They share their experiences, from swimming and playing in the warm sand, to celebrating Halloween and playing in the fallen leaves. The book is written in poetic text with 4-6 sentences. The colourful illustrations are very detailed and can add to discussions about the wonders of each month.

This story was written and illustrated by Emilie Leduc and translated by Shelley Tanaka. The book was originally published as La ronde des mois and was nominated for the Governor Generals Literary Award (Illustration), for which Leduc became a finalist. She is from Montreal, Quebec.

All Year Round is a nice addition for the earlier grades, especially when teaching about the months or seasons. Little ones will enjoy the illustrations, and it is a fun read-aloud book.
