Review by Anna Swaine.

The Jumbo Vegetarian Cookbook, true to the title's description, is a cookbook full of vegetarian dishes including salads, lunches and dinners, rice, pasta and noodles, breads, vegetables, sauces and fillings, cookies, desserts and drinks. Each recipe is rated in stars, with one star indicating beginner level, two stars intermediate and three stars advanced. The recipes are fairly basic, and this cookbook would be a good introductory tool for adolescents experimenting in the kitchen.

The book is clearly laid out with a table of contents at the beginning and an index at the back. Each recipe tells you what you will need to get started, from ingredients to utensils. Young cooks are provided with preparation times, with most recipes taking between five to 45 minutes.

Kids will enjoy this cookbook as there are funky cartoons, decorative borders and tidbits of information to accompany each recipe. Parents will also enjoy The Jumbo Vegetarian Cookbook as recipes are clearly laid out and look delicious.

Highly recommended.
