Mexico City The Federal District of the City of Mexico is the capital of the Mexican Republic and has a population of more than 20 million. Mexico City, the ancient capital of the Aztecs, represents a microcosm of Latin America from pre-Hispanic times to the present from ancient pyramids to colonial and palaces to contemporary architecture. The city is full of museums and art galleries showing the work of Mexican and international artists, plazas with outdoors entertainment, street fairs, theatre, night clubs, and markets of artesanias. |

Living in
Mexico City The
Centro de Ensenanza de para Extranjeras (CEPE) has a list of rooms for
rent with Mexican families who live near the university. The average
monthly cost for a double with kitchen privileges is between $170 and $200
US per month. A single room averages $200 to $300 US. It is recommended
that one stay in a hotel while searching for housing for the semester. For
additional information go to http://www.mexicocity.gob.mx
