Mechanical Weed Control
Mechanical weed control involves the physical removal of weeds or placement of barriers to weed growth. While mechanical methods of weed management can reduce herbicide use, it is important to remember that mechanical weed control operations also require external inputs (e.g. fossil fuels) and are not necessarily more environmentally friendly than responsible herbicide use. A balance must be found between weed control methods that rely on different types of inputs and that minimize environmental impact.
