19th North American Diatom Symposium (NADS)

The 19th North American Diatom symposium will be held at the University of Michigan Biological Station, on the shores of Douglas Lake, in the northern part of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, from 12 to 16 September 2007.
This year’s meeting is being convened by Dr. Rex Lowe and Dr. Patrick Kociolek, both of whom teach at UMBS in the summer. For the Scientific Program, in addition to offering oral and poster presentations, there will be two plenary addresses, one by Dr. Gene Stoermer (University of Michigan) and the other by Dr. Barry Biggs (NIWA, Christchurch, New Zealand). In addtion, Dr. Horst Lange-Bertalot (J. W. Goethe University, Botanical Institute, Frankfurt am Main, Germany) will be in attendance. He will be available to work with participants to review, discuss and make determinations of specimens brought to the meeting by participants, as well as being involved in the scientific program. Several roundtable discussions are also being planned.
The First Circular will be distributed late in the Fall.
