Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships (PDF) support the best postdocs in the world.

The fellowships are awarded nationally (70 annually) and are $70,000 CDN per year for two years. They are awarded in equal numbers in the areas of:

  • health sciences
  • natural sciences and engineering
  • social sciences and humanities

The program aims to increase Canadian capacity for research excellence and has the following specific objectives:

  • Attract and retain top-tier postdoctoral talent, both nationally and internationally;
  • Develop their leadership potential; and
  • Position them for success as research leaders of tomorrow.

About the Program
The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship Program  is administered by Canada’s three research granting councils, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
