Gary Glavin
Associate Vice-President (Research)
Gary Glavin has been appointed Associate Vice-President (Research) at the University of Manitoba for a five-year term. Previously, Dr. Glavin served as Head of the department of pharmacology and therapeutics and Associate Vice-President (Research).
Dr. Glavin received his PhD in 1975 and completed post-doctoral training at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He served on interchange to the Public Health Agency of Canada’s National Microbiology Lab, where he was Deputy Scientific Director-General. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Canada Foundation for Innovation and Canadian Blood Services. He also chairs the scientific review committee of the ISTC/STCU Global Partnerships Program.
As Associate Vice-President (Research), Dr. Glavin provides overall assistance to the Vice-President (Research and International) on all matters related to research development, administration and promotion. Specific responsibilities include providing oversight of:
