International engagement at the institutional level frequently stems from the activities of individuals and units within the university. In order to maximize the impact and effectiveness of our international initiatives, it is important that they be anchored to the wider mission and priorities of the university. Consequently, the Vice-President (Research and International) has launched a university-wide consultation process towards the development of a University of Manitoba International Strategic Plan.
University of Manitoba Internationalization Baseline Study
We welcome you to read the Internationalization Baseline Study and Report Summary conducted by the Centre for Higher Education Research and Development (CHERD).
Your thoughts on an International Strategy
We also invite your feedback on four key questions that will be helpful in preparing the International Strategy:
1) What is the most important characteristic of an internationalized university?
2) What international initiatives should be priorities for University of Manitoba?
3) What specific university supports (other than funding) would you need to get involved with international activities?
4) What is the greatest barrier (other than funding) that prevents you from engaging in international activities?
Your contributions to the above questions are very much welcome and appreciated. Kindly send them to Judith Mate (Judith.Mate@umanitoba.ca) on or before 30 September 2013.
You are invited to attend two community consultation events, at which the Internationalization Baseline Study will be reviewed and discussion towards the development of the International Strategy will be invited.
