Animal Wet Lab Training Sessions

The purpose of our Education Program is to foster a philosophy of compassion and respect for the animals used in research, teaching and testing. In addition, the training program provides participants with the necessary knowledge base and technical skills to carry out required procedures, and to promote quality science based on appropriate use of animals by skilled individuals.

Introduction will address:

  • Handling and Restraint
  • Sexing

  • Identification
  • Health Assessment
  • IP injection
  • Euthanasia

Anesthesia and Analgesia Wet Lab
Prerequisite: A handling and restraint wet lab for your species.

Physical Methods of Euthanasia Wet Lab: Rodents
Prerequisite: Mouse or Rat Wet Lab.

Introduction to Surgery & Post-Op Care Wet Lab
Prerequisite: Anesthesia and Analgesia Wet Lab.

Rabbit, Guinea Pig, Hamster and Surgery & Anesthesia in Large Animals will be offered as required.
Ear tagging and tail sampling is taught as needed.  Training sessions are not limited to this schedule.

Please register at least one week in advance.  A cancellation fee will be charged if notice is not received within 24 hours of the session.
