MICAH LEXIER: 1
11 October to 8 November 2002

An opening receprtion for this exhibition happened on Friday, 11 October 2002 at 5 PM

Micah Lexier is an internationally-known Canadian artist from Winnipeg, one of Manitoba's best known cultural exports in the visual arts. He attended the University of Manitoba School of Art and completed his art studies at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design; afterward, he lived for many years in Toronto, and he currently lives in New York. He is represented by the Jack Shainman Gallery in new York City, the Trépanier Baer Gallery in Calgary and the Robert Birch Gallery in Toronto.

The occasion of the 125th anniversary of the University of Manitoba in 2002 was incidental to this exhibition, but it did remind Winnipeg's art community that a Micah Lexier solo exhibition at his alma mater's Gallery One One One had been long overdue. Lexier was present at the opening of this exhibition and he gave a lecture about his work.

Curated by Cliff Eyland.

Gallery One One One acknowledges generous support by The Canada Council for the Arts, The Manitoba Arts Council, SOFA faculty, staff and volunteers.
