The Winnipeg Perspective Series. The concept for The Winnipeg Perspective developed from The Winnipeg Show - a national juried exhibition sponsored by the Winnipeg Art Gallery's volunteers, held biannually from 1955 - 1970. It was discontinued in 1972. In 1978, the concept was reborn as The Winnipeg Perspective. Its goal was to present a selection of Canadian contemporary art which represented a significant trend or style. As work would be selected on the basis of quality and relevance to the exhibition "theme" or concept, relatively unknown artists would be featured with those having a higher national profile.
